What is world circle dance?

It is an international network known by variations of names including Circle Dance, Sacred Dance, and World Dance. It originated in the Findhorn community in Scotland in the 1970s and now has teachers and participants all around the world. It is a mixture of traditional sometimes very ancient village dances and more modern choreographies to a wide range of music. The majority of the dances are danced in the round so no partners are needed. The focus is on community, participation and celebration and not on performance or any kind of expertise. All ages are encouraged to be involved. Chrisandra was one of the very first dancers and teachers in the UK and has been leading events since the 1980s.

Chrisandra has also introduced a large number of traditional village dances from Greece, Turkey, Armenia, and central Asia into the dance network.
